ABSTRACT.
Based on the improved gravity model of Novy (2011), the agricultural trade cost after China’s accession to the WTO was measured. It was found that China’s agricultural trade costs showed a rapid decline first and then a slow decline, with an overall decrease of 14.18%; in 2014, it decreased to the average cost level of G7 countries, beginning to show a certain competitive advantage. We should expand opening to the outside world, establish scientific and modern agricultural production methods internally, complete infrastructure construction, share industrial technology spillovers brought by the rapid development of manufacturing and service industries, rely on modern agricultural trade information platforms to reduce trade costs, and foster China’s new competitive advantage in agricultural trade.
