ABSTRACT.
This paper aims to empirically analyze evolution characteristics of the layout and structure of Beijing’s manufacturing industry in 2006-2017. This paper has carried out multi-perspective research, including time series data analysis, static agglomeration index, economic center of gravity measurement algorithm and comprehensive location quotient analysis method to measure Beijing’s development dynamics, spatial layout, changes in industry focus and industrial structure. The research results show that: the phenomenon of Beijing manufacturing industry transferring to the outside of Beijing, especially to Tianjin and Hebei, the trend of transferring from urban functional development area to new urban development zone is apparent, and the development space of high-end manufacturing industry continues to expand. The process of reconciliation shows that Beijing’s manufacturing industry is developing in a high-end and intensive way, and the quality of development has improved significantly. This study is of great significance for verifying Beijing’s industrial development policy as a metropolitan city, and has a guiding potential impact on the industrial development of global mega cities.
