ABSTRACT.
In Recent years, the Chinese government launched a series of promotional policies for the application of rural clean energy. Under the guidance of these policies, an increasing number of rural residents began to utilize clean energy, but the utilization ratio in rural areas is still not high. Therefore, it is particularly important to analyze the factors affecting the degree of satisfaction of rural residents with clean-energy application policies. Based on field survey data of 695 rural residents in the Jiangxi Province of China, using the models of ordered Probit and multivariate ordinal Logistic, this paper investigates the degree of satisfaction with policies on clean-energy application for rural residents and its determinants. The empirical results show that rural residents do not have a high degree of overall satisfaction with the policies of clean-energy application. They also indicate that rural residents’ satisfaction with clean-energy application policies is influenced by the education level and marital status of the residents, by the demonstration area of clean energy and the terrain of residential areas, by the residents’ knowledge of how to purchase solar water heaters with subsidies, by whether the residents know the amount and method of subsidy for the construction of biogas pools and by the perception of government support for the rural-household biogas policy and the solar water-heater policy.
