Abstract.
In this paper a 21-level single phase inverter powered from a single solar PV source is presented. The proposed 21 level inverter has a battery backup and the output voltage of the inverter is regulated by a PI controller. The Gravitational Search Algorithm (GSA) has been used to tune Kp and Ki constants of the PI controller. The performance of the GSA in tuning PI controller has been studied and it is found to offer better performance when compared to traditional tuning methods of the PI controller. Simulations and experimental results validate the proposed idea.
