ABSTRACT.
A discrete time retrial queue with impatient customers and change of vacation times has been taken up for study. To tackle the situation of customer loss due to impatience, retrial of the customer is permitted upon a random time. Upon completion of a service, the server chooses to go on a vacation or continues to serve the next customer. During a vacation period, based on the requirements, change in remaining vacation times is permitted. The energy conservation in WSNs is proposed using this switching offer in the residual vacation times. Using the generating function approach, the probability generating functions of the orbit size and system size are derived. The influence of the parameters on the performance measures are analytically derived and numerically validated. The stochastic decomposition property is established for the system under consideration.
